September in the allotment and kitchen garden is a wonderful time. A time to enjoy the harvests that are streaming in.
The September harvests are not just arriving from our own allotments and gardens. Across the country the abundance of crops available has everyone thinking about food. It’s a great time to celebrate, get out and about and visit some wonderful food and drink events taking place.
Abergavenny Food Festival 2016
One of the most established and biggest food festivals in the UK. The Abergavenny Food Festival will take place on 17th and 18th of September. A line-up of top chefs, hundreds of stalls, music and entertainment. This is a great day out.
Narberth Food Festival 2016
Narberth is celebrating is 18th food festival this year. On the 24th and 25th September, the town will be buzzing with food stalls, live music, street theatre, talks & chef demonstrations. There is also free children’s activities.
The Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival 2016
Taking place between the 22nd and 24th September and featuring over 140 different beers from all over Wales and over 60 different ciders from Wales, this is a feast of fantastic boozy beverages. There is also a selection of artisan food stalls and the Champion Beer of Wales Competition. My only advice is to choose the half pint glass on entry!
Malvern Autumn Show 2016
Always plenty for visitors to enjoy. Malvern Autumn Show has more than 50 top exhibits where visitors can purchase the finest quality plants from award-winning nurseries. Featuring The UK National Giant Vegetables Championship.
River Cottage Festival
On 17th and 18th September, River Cottage is hosting their ‘first ever family friendly music festival.’ There so much more than music on offer.Huge helpings of an array of food and a load of fun activities and workshops.
Reading Oktoberfest 2016
Between 15th and 18th September the authentic Oktoberfest Atmosphere is brought to Reading for the first Reading Oktoberfest! There is live music and there will be thousands of people looking for the authentic Oktoberfest.
World Curry Festival 2016
Between 15th and 29th September, Bradford and Leeds will host a celebration of all things curry. Experience the authentic tastes of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas and enjoy the party atmosphere.
Great British Food Festival 2016
On 24th and 25th September, the Great British Food Festival promises over 80 top local and artisan producers, stunning hot food, real ale and wine bars, kids cookery lessons and activities, top chef demos, a Baking stage plus excellent live music. A foodie extravaganza!
Bembridge Harbour Food Festival
Experience a local feast from the land and sea at the Isle of Wight’s Bembridge Harbour Food Festival. Takes place On 24th and 25th September.
